The General Secretary is based at
the National Office and is the Chief Executive Officer
of the Council. The General Secretary
takes responsibility for directing the overall work of
the Council. Other functions include overseeing the Council's business
and relationships with member churches
and other organisations and implementing the
policies of the National Executive Committee.
Additionally, the Communications, Faith & Mission, and Public
Policy Liaison Units are accountable to the General Secretariat.
The General Secretary also oversees the work of the
Council's three Key Programmes Areas:
- Justice, Reconciliation and Healing
- Health
- Poverty Eradication
